Crete’s Popular Tourist Destination of Agua Marina
The Mediterranean islands are one of the most visited places on earth. The island of Crete is one of the most popular tourist destinations and Agua Marina (Aghia Marina) beach is where most of these tourists spend their vacation together with their family and friends.
Agua Marina is located about 12 kilometers from the city of Chania which is the western section of Crete. This beach has thin sand combined with a golden pink hue. The beach has an exotic vibe because of how different trees are nestled along the sea front.
The beach is about 2.5 kilometers wide and it has been modernized over the years. You can see life guard stations when you go strolling, and you can find many toilet and showers a few meters away from each other. Umbrellas, and sun beds are also available and it is free to use while watching your children swimming or playing.

The Agia Marina has many restaurants that produce delicious foods with different types of cuisines. On the village of Pano Agia Marina or Upper Agia Marina serves different kinds of dishes. The different restaurants in this village have their own version and twists of the different classical French cuisines, seafood, and Italian and Mexican dishes.
For night owls, they can have their dinner in the neighboring town of Platinias. In this place, the different music bars, and night clubs will keep them preoccupied and if they love to drink, they can drink until the wee hours of the morning.
Other Tourist Attractions
Before you leave the island, make it a point to visit the old part of the village where it is situated on the hill. In this place, you can witness the old cretan culture and see the old church where the village got its name. There is also a watercave where until now, nobody knows its actual length.
Agia Marina’s peak season is on July and August. If you are planning to visit this place it is best that you book ahead of time in order for you to have a hotel to sleep in and a private vehicle to rent.
